Loc'd Up With Smooth'N Shine
Hiya there, my fabulous femmes and spectacular human beings! It's been a while since I've shared some hair love and you know how I feel about my 'tresses. If you've never met me in person, you might occasionally hear the nickname "Malcolm Sexy" and here's why. I'm constantly doing a hair flip (I don't know why so don't ask) and if you haven't noticed my glasses are similar to that of Malcolm X. Hence I've been dubbed the nickname, Malcolm Sexy. However, with this new season upon us, I needed to try something new. Luckily, I was able to try Smooth 'N Shine's new and improved product formulas and baby!! (pay attention to the number of exclamations), they didn't disappoint.
Now, I'm sure you're thinking what I'm thinking, and yes, you're right. Not only did Smooth 'N Shine improve their formula to make sure you love your hair every day and in every single way, they also changed up the packaging and I'm all here for it. I appreciate their constant effort to not just provide great products (with Camelia Oil & Shea Butter - that's great for your scalp and edges) but also welcoming encasements of items I feel proud to own. If that isn't marketing done right, I don't know what to say. However, for the sake of your attention span, let's get to the real reason I wrote this post - MY HAIR!
You've seen my mug shot. You can stop laughing now. Haha! In all honesty, this was me at 9 pm on a Sunday night, ready to start the process of documenting the whole ordeal. However, my lack of videography skills didn't allow me to be great enough to accomplish such task, so I decided to recount my entire process VERBATIM..
THE PROCESS:
Step one: I started with my initial wash of Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap to remove all of the dirt and buildup I already had. Then used the Smooth 'N Shine Camelia Oil & Shea Butter Quench Co-wash. I definitely suggest a two-wash minimum (if you have locs) just to get the full effect of the product. I loved the way it felt on my scalp. It was smooth and easy to rinse out. THANK YOU!
Step two: I began my retwisting with Camelia Oil & Shea Butter Coil Hydrating Butter and let's just say my scalp did a happy dance. The product wasn't too sticky or thick. It felt almost like a breath of fresh air. (My only sidenote is I did notice a small amount of white buildup after my twists dried but it wasn't anything that would prevent me from using the product again.)
Step three: I sprayed my loc ends with Camelia Oil & Shea Butter Curl Defining Mousse and wrapped those babies with small perm rods. You can keep them in 12-48 hours, depending on how tight you'd like your curls. As for me, I like my curls big so I left them in for over 16 hours.
BABY!! You can't tell me Smooth 'N Shine didn't clean me up nicely. My hair feels light and free. It smells like what it's suppose to smell like; SHEA BUTTER! Haha! If you live close to a WalMart, Target, Rite-Aid or even a Family Dollar, go get yourself some Smooth 'N Shine. I think this is just another level of self-care if you ask me because my confidence just went up another .5 million notches (insert digital hair flip).
