To Be Celibate or Nah?

I JUST WANT TO HAVE SEX! It’s time to talk about celibacy on my end. So in December, I remember messaging two of my friends “Yo! Sis gon need some help” and without hesitation, they signed up without even knowing my past.
So let’s keep it 100. I love sex. I mean, I’m sure all of my exes will tell you, that sex was a big deal in my equation and the majority of the time, I was the one with the high libido. Did I learn a lot about myself (physically)? Yes. But celibacy was a whole other beast.
After making the intention and oath to be abstinent from sex for a while, I’ve learned a few things and the third eye has been opening a bit more by the day.
1. You get to see through people’s bs earlier on when sex is not involved. Seriously. Think about it. If you’ve had intercourse with someone and they did something that not only hurts your feelings but is also a non-negotiable (A BIG WHOLE RED FLAG), you’re more than likely going to keep them around. If there is no metaphorical umbilical cord (sex) tying your energies/souls to each other, you’re not going to think twice about dipping from a bad situation.
2. When I say my perspective on self-love + self-worth is different, baby, ain't nobody can tell me anything about me that my therapist hasn’t already told me. My awareness of my own mess is under a magnifying glass, but my ability + courage to confront it head-on are growing.
3. Also, I’m not going to lie… ya girl has been turning into a pile of mush balls. I mean... #THUGLIFE... but I’m a little more in tune with my emotional side now.
4. Not being sexually active also frees up more time to do the things I’ve been putting off because well…#LifeOfAProcrastinator
I would be deceitful if I didn’t mention that being inside during quarantine and getting my back blown out does sound good. But my mental, emotional, and spiritual health are more important.
